This is the case where the Tunika Christi (the Holy Robe) is kept.Emperor Constantine's mother, St. Helena, brought Christ's Robe to Trier and it is now displayed at irregular intervals (the most recent date is 1959).
There are two buildings towering over Trier, the Trier Cathedral and this one, the Church of Our Lady, a beautiful Gothic style church. 
The Trier Cathedral used to be part of the palace of St. Helena. We ate at a restaurant during the tour of Trier that used to be the giagantic kitchen of the palace.
The inside of the cathedral is filled with different styles of art and architecture.
